Ninja Gal
(The player above does not currently work in Safari. Use the downloadable version instead. Or Firefox or Chrome.)
Originally created for the "Fuze for Nintendo Switch" development environment (Shoutout to the nicest and most encouraging developer community there!), the gimmick there being that the code should also fit on a single screen (docked mode, default zoom). You can see the code in the first split second of the video below.
It turned out nicer than expected! It is short, ten to twenty minutes, depending on how you get along with the physics. Of course, there are controller biting difficult levels near the end.
Gamepad Controls:
Left stick or D-Pad moves, A and B jump
Bumpers switch levels
Keyboard Controls:
A/D or cursor keys move, Space jumps
F2 and F3 switch levels
Inspiration mostly came from Super Meat Boy. The forumites also said it reminds them of Bruce Lee for the C64, a game I only watched others play; yeah, I can see that.
This is a port of that game to the Godot Engine. The programming language there works differently and there is no unique definition for a screen full of code anyway, so I just made the port as faithful as possible. The font is new and sound effects were changed, and while the game logic still runs at 60 FPS, there is support for higher display refresh rates.
The source code is available on GitLab. Just be warned: The game's original constraints mean that there is a preference for formulas over more readable and maintainable if/else constructs.
